It is a highly appreciated specialty in the cuisine of Austria and southern Germany. Known long before the 1700s, at first it was made from flour by soldiers and then after bringing potatoes to Europe they were also made from potatoes. It resembles Italian gnocchi. They are also served with sour cabbage and pieces of smoked bacon. Or another sweet recipe is with vanilla sauce. I present the original recipe next time, I will reveal it when I make them personally, this time I had them ready bought.

  • 500 grams Schupfnudeln
  • ca.100 grams of sugar
  • cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • vanilla sugar
  • alternately breadcrumbs 2-3 tablespoons

Servings: 3

Preparation time: less than 30 minutes

RECIPE PREPARATION How to make a recipe with juice and sugar:

I put the caramelized sugar in the pan first, although according to the recipe it would be the butter first. But I chose the sugar first, to give it a caramel touch. Then I added butter, cinnamon (to taste, not much) vanilla sugar. And then Schupfnudeln. Leave on low heat and stir for 10 minutes continuously. Optionally, breadcrumbs are added, also according to taste, it gives it a very good taste.

Serve hot with apple puree or compote fruit. A delight. I look forward to seeing you :)
